I have some linoleum tiles that are in really good shape, but i want to put some hard tile over it.

Would it be a good idea to put the new hard tile over the linoleum tile?

Also same question for the hard wood flooring that you assemble like puzzle peaces, could that be used over Linoleum?

  1. hard tiles over wood floors will make a problem! Swell&shrink (flex)

  2. For hard tile, you need an underlayment that does not flex at all. Your linoleum does flex. Hardwood floors would not be a problem.

  3. "hard" tile over linoleum = loose tile issues.  Use the proper backer board for the tile. this you can s***w on directly over the linoleum.

    "wood" floor - no problems.
