Can you put martin strings takamine guitars?

As Takamine once built guitars for Martin, it would seem like a natural 'fit.'

What year is your guitar?  They were especially good through the 1960's-mid '70's.  Around 1980 or so, the world got 'mean and lean' and Takamine was no exception, quality went down and their sound was... well.. "Reagan-esque" during those years.
