  1. Things needed...

    1. vhs player

    2. computer with dvd burner

    3. software and a piece of hardware that can make it so you can plug the vcr into the computer. Sold at stores like best buy. Or, a very new computer that can plug a vcr right into it.

    4. lots of time to run and watch tape.

    5. a burning program or another program that will convert the rippped recording into a dvd format

As someone already said, you can pay a service to do it, or you can learn. Often times it's not that hard. I put all our home movies onto dvd myself, i had the computer and the software cost me around 100 dollars.

If it's a full movie, you are going to have troubles. With them, you need to get another program, like dvd shrink with dvd fab decrypter to shrink down the movie so it will fit on a dvd. It will rip far to large and you won't get any openings, or credits, just the simple movie to fit otherwise. DVD shrink and the dvd fab are both free. Both can be found at zdnet.com or cnet.com.

    Good luck!

  2. Easiest way is to pay a service to do that for you. They will have the equipment necessary to do it, and will charge you $8 a tape.

You could do this yourself, but you'd need a computer with a DVD burner, and a media bridge that would run you around $130-150. It'd come with instructions, and software needed to do it.

Personally i'd go for the cheaper, less complicated option of having someone else do it, but if you're keen on DIY, here's a guide to doing it from C|net
