Or would it a different verb. Also, is an above-ground pool a hole? Thanks! And as always, scientific evidence is always supported. Toodles!

  1. Be sure to use Pure liquified di-hydrogenmonoxide in your hole after you build it.

Di-hydrogenmonoxide is a very dangerous chemical, it causes corrosion on some un-protected metals, can dissolve some types of stone and inhaling even a small portion can cause brain damage or even death.

  2. You can't build a hole and you can't dig half a hole.

  3. Very strange question...

  4. No, but it is possible to construct a decent question.

  5. Firstly, an above-ground pool is clearly not a hole; it is a container.

Generally, the preferred verb would be to "make" a hole where the hole is being created within an existing material or structure.

When the hole in question is being created as an intrinsic part of a larger project, it may be appropriate to use the verb "build" such as:

We intend to build a swimming hole in our back yard.  or

His goal in life was to build a better doughnut.

Since your question is essentially one of semantics, "scientific evidence" does not enter the discussion.

  6. No you dig or drill a hole. An above ground pool is a tank filled with H2O.
