Can you "put Tamagotchis away" on v5?

I have 3 Tamagotchis on my v5, like it's supposed to be. This is Generation 1. Is there any way to either temporarily or permanently put any Tamagotchis away, but keep the 1 like the most? If not, can you make one your "main", like the one featured in games?
