  1. If you need or want a motorised dish

and a box the will receive over 6,000

foreign free view channels go on

    Maplins web for prices.Sky dishes

    will only pick Sky up.

  2. Most Sky dishes are fairly small and won't give very good reception from other satellites.  You would also need a different box.

Most of the channels on the other satellites are in foreign languages.  If that's what you want, it's probably better to get a new satellite kit (they are cheap - try Maplins).  Keep your Sky kit looking at the Astra 2 satellite and use a twin LNB dish to look at Astra 1 and Hotbird.  Alternatively, a motorised dish will get them all.  Then you get 1,200 channels of c**p instead of your existing 60!

  3. When we moved to our current house, there was already a satellite dish in place - not a Sky one, but a larger dish that had been used by the previous owners, who were Korean and liked to watch Asian TV channels.

We hooked Sky up to it and it didn't work because the dish was pointing at the wrong satellite; but the Sky engineers sorted it out by changing the direction of the dish.  I think we might also have needed a different LNB in the middle of the dish, too.

Anyway, the dish works fine - and because it is bigger than the standard Sky dish, the signal we get from it is amazing!  I guess this MIGHT indicate that you would need a bigger dish for non-Sky satellites.....but for that you would need to consult a satellite TV specialist.

You might try the DigitalSpy website as a starting point for further detective work.
