  1. Absolutely. If you ever get a chance to watch darts on television, (more commonly shown in the UK but I've seen it the US as well) be sure to do so. You'll be amazed at how good the players are. It's not uncommon for strong players to hit the triple-20 with all three darts in the same turn.

I worked in a pub in London for a year and improved considerably from playing frequently. It's important to have a consistent and efficient motion, much like shooting free throws.

  2. Skill. If you have ever seen a perfect game from darts, you would have no doubt of it. In sources below, I have links to a few perfect 9 dart 501 games. Watch a few, then grab some darts and try to copy the feat....

  3. its a skill, not luck. it also requires wits.

  4. a game of skill

  5. And no small part of it is being able to figure out all that math instantly (I sometimes think that might be harder than the dart part).  Just watch it on TV--you'll realize it's skill skill skill.

  6. Well in the beggining it is luck.  After playing for a while you develope it as a skill.  I have been playing for many many years about 15 and I can pretty much hit anything on the board I want, but getting it the triple or doulbe everytime I haven't mastered yet.hahahaha

To answer your question is is a skill like every other sport out there.

  7. It is a game of skill, much like bowling and other non contact sports. Mostly repetition and key principles help one in games like these

  8. people can do this - it  is mostly a game of skill ( and practice)

  9. I have a couple of friends who are actually on a dart team.

They are at the bar a lot, either practicing or playing some other team, trying to get to the championships. Sounds weird, I know. But, they are actually pretty good.

To answer your question, I'd say it's a little of both.

To be good at anything, you have to practice, at least a little bit. You do have to be able to aim and throw to hit a target. But, I also think luck plays a small part.

Regardless, it's a little boring to watch.  =)

  10. ya. you need skill to play well

  11. skill,  normally developed in pubs :-)
