I am sorry, a friend of mine told me that her dad is driving a Volvo with almost 423 000 miles in it.. I don't know if I can swallow that one.. And she claim no major works been done to the car. I did tell her that was a lil too much for me to believe.. Please tell me if that's possible...

  1. yes you can! as long as you don't drive like an idiot and you always keep it running healthy by changing the air filter, changing the oil ( with good oil, not cheap garbage oil), changing the spark plugs before they are siesed, ect.

  2. Yes, that's possible. Volvos are very durable cars, and if it's been well-maintained, 400k+ miles is not unheard of.

But that also depends on what you mean by "no major work". Replacing an alternator? Repairing a fan belt? Flushing the transmission fluid? Changing spark plugs?

I wouldn't consider any of that to be "major work", but you or she might.

  3. it's entirely possible!

Do a search for some volvo forums. Then do a quick search for mileage, i'll bet you'll find a thread with people bragging about their mileage.

I've seen honda's that high. h**l in europe in the mercedes museum they have some late 70's diesel mercedes with well over a million miles.

  4. Yes its possible, Volvo has more cars with over 500,000 miles than any other make. The secret? I think its because old Volvos are not overpowered. Most of these cars had smallish 4 cylinder engines that did the job, no more.
