“Lewis Gordon Pugh will be taking off on this adventure on August 29th. He will begin his kayak adventure from the Norwegian Island of Spitsbergen, then hopefully arrive at the Pole three weeks later. He will cover a distance of 745 miles. If he reaches his goal’s destination, Pugh could become the first person to ever kayak to the North Pole”

  1. Haha I do not think so...but I would not mind meeting Santa!

  2. No I cant. He might be able to, but I cant.

  3. Well is he going to take a couple of dog teams and some support snow cats to haul him the last 1000 miles or so. Some people do get sucked into the strangest things when promoting scams.

  4. According to many scientists, there is about a fifty/fifty chance that the North Pole will be ice free this summer.[1] This is because the Arctic ice flows and the ice now directly over the North Pole is thin annual ice which usually does melt during the summer months.

Please note that is prediction is just for the North pole and not the entire Arctic region.  The Arctic probably won't have "ice-free" summers until somewhere between 2013 and 2030.[2]

FYI, we'll be able to see if the North Pole melts this summer if these web cameras located there sink to the bottom of the ocean and stop transmitting:

  5. No you can't Kayak to the North Pole, it's still solid ice.

  6. He will not stand a chance without an ice breaker...

  7. If there is water, it can be done!

  8. You can't kayak to the North Pole in a standard model.  He'll have to add several flame throwers, some 81mm mortars, and little 40mm ack-ack, if he plans to travel there.  I would also encourage him to bring at least one auxiliary flotation device.  That should keep him from dropping his boot into the old green briny!
