You couldn't kill one with a regular size .177 cal bb. It doesn't carry enough weight to penetrate well enough to kill directly. Indirectly meaning some random infection in the wound or it freaks out and runs into a tree or falls off a cliff or something.

If you are talking air rifles that is another thing. There are some very powerful air rifles out there that can pack much more punch than a .22 long rifle cartridge. Air rifles that can sling a slug large enough and fast enough to do a good job on a large animal do exist, but they are not really something you can just go buy as far as I've seen.

The pellet rifles which can shoot a .22 cal pellet over 900 feet per second are out there and some are under $200 and while I wouldn't choose one of those for deer hunting, they could certainly bring down a deer with the right head shot and a poiny penetrating pellet, but probably not very consistently.

With a large caliber, high velocity (800-1000 fps) air rifle shooting say a .45 caliber, 180 grain pellet/slug at say 800-900 fps, yes it is possible. (And before the anti-airgun crowd here starts arguing...  Those figures will roughly match black powder rifles using round balls. And an air-gun of similar power was used extensively by Lewis & Clark during their expedition.) That still leaves the question of if you have such an airgun, whether it is legal to use it on deer in your state. To answer that question you'll need to check the hunting regulations posted by your DNR.

A: You mean just by shooting it with a BB-gun?  No.  Now if you managed to get a BB under it's skin it might eventually die of blood poisoning.  A person, on the other hand, could be killed with a BB-gun.  Which just goes to show that deer really are tougher than Man!
