Can you reccomend an affordable self catering place to stay at Lake Garda Italy?

I have just booked flights to Milan for my partner and our 5 year old daughter, and am hoping to stay at a nice self catering place for the week in August at Lake Garda somewhere, can anyone reccomend a self catering place they have stayed at which was family friendly and more importantly affordable, also can anyone reccomend a nice family friendly town to stay in at Lake Garda? Gosh i like these people telling you to go in Sirmione on the pretence that is reasonable??? It is fantastic but Sirmione is more of the day  trip rather than a place to stay...I'd say Desenzano del Garda, in south Lake Garda a port there so you can get into Sirmione in 10 minutes then once in Sirmione you might want to program a day out at the foothill of the Dolomites absolutely fantastic from the port of Sirmione You can reach virtually every resort on the lake...I love my country and I would never tell someone to go somewhere where they're going to be ripped off!!! I've sent 7 people in the same place that I'm going to suggest you it was a place to stay for a week after my wedding toke place in near Brescia. My in laws loved it...and trust me it is very difficult to please in laws the only cons bout this place is that you will eventually have to leave...it is about 1km from the centre but trust me its worth it...3 minutes taxi ride anyway take a look at this http://www.voit.it/ and let me know if you got any problems of any kind...whilst you'll soak in the summer sun I will be in wet Wales "charming"
