  1. for a long time, i worked with applications and underwriting and a LOT of people would not fill in their ssn on their app.. that does not and did not prevent them from being underwritten and approved/denied. most companies only require that you are a resident of the state you are living in. i am talking independent insurance by the way..

with group insurance, your employer would obviously need your ssn and therefore by default, you would give it to the insurer, so that wouldnt really work i would imagine.

  2. I have never had an insurance company ask for my social. But even if they did the pin number from the irs is recognized by banks and credit card companies so why wouldnt an insurance company

  3. With Group insurance yes.

With individual insurance it depends on the company, some companies require you to be in the us for at least 12 months  and have a green card or visa. With Anthem Blue Cross (at least in MD, VA, DC) they don't require the 12 months residency or the SSN a tax id is good enough. If you are in the US less than 3 months you will need to pay for a special medical exam at the doctor of your choice.

Contact a health insurance broker they can walk you through the process and the price is the same whether you use a broker or call the insurer direct. With a broker they can help you find the best company for your situation.

Try searching yellowpages.com for health brokers in your area.

  4. An irs individual taxpayer identification number is for federal tax purposes only...

    u can try getting a SSN...Check dis link http://www.ssa.gov/pubs/10096.html

  5. Yeah, well, you can in Oregon.

And the get a job thing. Get a clue, ***. I'm too sick to work. Did you ever think about that? If it wasn't for state insurance, I would probably dead because I can't afford my oncologist and my bi-weekly chemo treatments.

  6. There's no law against it, but for welfare insurance or private policies, I don't know of anyone who will insure you, without your SS number.  You need to be here legally, first, and that SS number is proof you're here legally.  Illegals can get that irs taxpayer id number and even pay taxes.

  7. FIRST GET A JOB
