  1. Big Bertha

  2. Try the Taylor Made Burner its gives more distance and a bigger sweet spot.

  3. I bought the new Nike driver because I heard good reviews on it, I absolutley hated the club, after two rounds I brought it back to Dicks Sportinggoods and they gave me full value for it.  I then bought the TaylorMade Burner and absolutley love it.  I am a 3 handicap and have never hit a better driver and I have hit many.  My buddy hit mine during our round yesterday just to try it out and he went and bought one today.

  4. Check out Rock Bottom Golf's selection of drivers. They're doing 10% off for Memorial Day.

Also, they've got a couple 1/3/5 wood sets for $100 or so, if you're in the market for some fairway woods too - get a matching set!

  5. Don't forget to look into the Cleveland HiBore XL.  They are $199 right now and a great driver.

I hit the Nike Sumo Squared and absolutely hated it.  Felt like every ball I hit off the thing was a dud.  Thats just my opinion though, you may like it.

  6. Either the Cobra L4V which was voted best for feel in Golf Magazine's Club Test '08 or the Ping G10 which was voted best for distance.  The Nike Sasquatch Sumo Squared 5900 was the 3rd highest rated driver behind the Cobra and the Ping drivers.

  7. A big sweetspot isn't too hard to find these days with drivers as big as they are.  For your handicap, I would recommend NOT getting the latest and greatest driver as that would be spending money that could better be spent on a lesson (which is what will give you the distance you are looking for better than a new driver).  Look in the sale bins for models that are just out of production and spend $99-199 instead of $299-599.  Drivers are like cell phones - there are new gadgets every few months, but in the end you really just want to make a phone call.  Also, go to a place with a simulator to try out a few clubs - you should always try before you buy.  I have a 2 year old TaylorMade (paid $120 last year) and I can hit 270-300 with it.  I also like Cleveland, Titleist and I've heard ravings about the new square Nike club although I've never swung it.

  8. Snake eyes Python XL.  What I like is the most is the feel of the green Aldila VSE shaft that comes with the driver, it feels firm but give good feedback if you hit the sweetspot or not.  My shots are straight and true.  And it's easier to make a draw than before with this driver.

Nike Sasquatch '06.  It's cheap now around $150.  Very easy to hit and bit farther than drivers that I had before.

  9. First buy a used one or a new club from a year or so ago. You'll save hundreds of dollars. There are brand new 460cc titanium drivers on sale at Golfsmith.com for 99 dollars and higher. Get the new square driver because they are so forgiving on mishits and hit longer and straighter due to the technology. There are brand new  Lynx LX2 and  Nickent 3DX square head drivers among others on sale for $100.00 in the outlet section of Golfsmith. I've never hit a Lynx club but I can attest to the quality of Nickent clubs as I own several of their hybrids that I love.

Good luck. Remember to relax and and swing smooth!
