It should be written by the authors like Jane Austen, Pearl S. Buck, Mark Twain, etc. Or any other authors during their time. You know, the classical ones :D

Thanks so much! :)

I'm just asking for suggestions :)

  1. when i was in gr. 11, i had to do a book report on a classical author -- i read Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte. the book was OK , the story was interesting but like most books written in that time period, it took a while for the story to develop. the characters are interesting and the ending of the novel was unpredictable. to tell you the truth i wouldnt read it AGAIN but certainly for the learning experience about classical authors -- jane eyre was an excellent choice. another plus about that book is that it was made into a movie so once you've read the book you can watch the movie to summarize the main themes and points.

  2. You don't say your age, but I would tell you that anything by those great authors you mentioned would be good reading. Can you get to a library and take a few minutes to read the covers of some of the books, to see what interests you? Mark Twain is classic, but I find the boys like it better than girls do. I think we would need to know more of your interests to suggest a book, but I know your local librarian would help. It's great that you want to read!  One of my personal favorites is "To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee.

  3. Wuthering Heights- it's great!

Or The Great Gatsby- it's really easy to read and there's loads to talk about.

  4. Anything by Jane Austen.  There's so much background on her and insight you won't have trouble.   How about Persuasion?

  5. I always loved Pride and Prejudice. For me its a book that i can read again and again which is always the sign of a good read.

I also loved Lord of the Flies when I was in school. Lots of strong themes about humanity and civilization.

The Count of Monte Cristo is also a classic and a fun read...lots of adventure, intrigue and revenge...with a bit of redemtion at the end.
