Question:

Can you recommend a good book series?

I love high fantasy, but I'm looking for something outside of the typical "Human, Elf and Dwarf venture forth to fight evil and find treasure." I've beat that orc to death for now. Recent favorites have been Robin Hobb's Farseer, Tawny Man and Liveship series and Jim Butcher's Dresden Files. Harry Potter was pretty good, but a little more juvenile that what I'm looking for. My favorite tv shows are Supernatural and Eureka, so any books along those lines would be great too. Thank you for any suggestions!!

    Twilight

    New Moon

    Eclipes

    Breaking Dawn

i hate reading sooo much and i read this and i couldnt put the book down..

  4. check out The Great Tree of Avalon trilogy by T.A. Barron. It's really good.

  5. Mirror Dreams and Mirror Wakes by Catherine Webb

not a series but def worth reading

  6. I dont know if you'd be interested in this type of story but, L.A Banks writes a great series.  The first book is called the minion and the series is about 11 books so far.  I never was into this type of book before I read hers, and now I am hooked.  Try it I doubt you'd regret it.

  7. The Gemma Doyle Trilogy by Libba Bray is amazing.

  8. OMG have u not heard of the twilight saga read it it is the best

    Twilight

    New Moon

    Eclipes

    Breaking Dawn

  9. wow sum1 beat me already

  10. Sorry, you've probably heard this suggestion a million times... but READ TWILIGHT!

  11. Earthsea Trilogy by Ursula LeGuin (Three books in the original, plus two added later)

Riftwar Saga by Raymond Feist (Also three in the original, plus another 8 or so written with the same world and some of the original characters)

Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan (Eleven books and counting)

Belgariad & Mallorean series by David Eddings (Five books each)

All rich, epic high-fantasy stories that I would highly recommend. Also, not an elf, dwarf or orc in the bunch.

  12. These are a little older, but quite good in my opinion. The Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind.

  13. You might want to try Jim Butcher's other series, The Codex Alera and also Michelle Sagara's ' Cast In ' series. Both are exceptional. While I do enjoy reading Mr. Butcher's Dresden Files, I like his Codex Alera series more. But that is just me. Enjoy!

  14. Artemis Fowl and Pendragon are two of the best fantasy series I've ever read.  Pendragon is probably more what you're looking for though since it doesn't have the typical elf and dwarf storyline you're not looking for.

  15. Twilight saga

midnighter series (though the ending to the third book sucks)

    uglies trilogy

    Night World series

    and

    Gone

Oh, and Gone is going to be a 6-book-series. The first one just came out and one is going to come out each summer.
