Our house is mainly carpeted, and we have a cat and a dog so we want a vacuum cleaner good for picking up hairs. Upright or cylindrical.

Thanks!

  1. Kirby. Sucks up everything.

Think about it if you buy a sweeper you buy it to suck up everything...

unlike the dyson animal which is designed to suck up animal hair....what about dirt, people hair, glass, mud, sand, grit...himm nope just animal hair... check out a kirby. they are really exspensive tho.

  2. I have always had hoover vacuums and they have worked fine.

  3. A dyson dog hair, I also have a little Henry for corners and under furniture.

  4. sebo is a good make. we recently bought one and wouldn't go back.  we have 3 long haired cats so for a dog they are brilliant.  depending on the model they have extension leads for stairs and  suction brushes. wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    HOPE THIS HELPS . . . .

  5. We have a dyson Animal and it is really amazing!!

    Seriously!!

  6. Dyson

6 dogs and 4 cats plus an aviary full of birds!

  7. Cyclonic..

  8. Yes.

Electrolux manufacture a hoover (upright) which is specifically designed for pet/dog hair and has worked better than any for us (Golden Retriever)

It's called the velocity PetLover, and works on a no bag system (you empty a holding container) and a good sophisticated brush system.

You may find this difficult to source in the shops but will readily get hold of one on the internet.

Only downside is its weight not really a problem when straightforward hoovering but hefty when doing stairs.

  9. We have a Morphy Richards Cyclonic Pets Bagless - 2000w vacuum (No.73362) after years with a Panasonic (don't ever get one of those!!).  I truly don't know how I've lived for all these years without  this wonderful piece of equipment.  It wasn't cheap (and I didn't want a Dyson because for me they are too heavy) but it's worth every penny.  Before my vac used to skim over the carpet and still leave it looking 'filmy'.  This one takes it all up (and we've had numbers of hounds).  Can't recommend it enough, truly!

Oh and it's an upright, with all the tools.

  10. You need to get a german Miele (pull along with bag) ---they do give the best suction and Miele do have a pet version........I've had dogs for 25 years and since buying the Miele I would rate it at the top of the tree.....upright bagless vacs are nowhere near as powerful with suction....it is a pain to have to replace the bags now and again, but it is worth it.

  11. I have gone though several hoovers ands one  to avoid is the electolux pet as I have had 2 and  when they  get a  bit too much hair in they cut out!!! I have now invested in a dyson and have no problems.

  12. WalMarts bagless Bissell 12 amps, cheap and works great

  13. We have a dog who molts by the bucket! We bought a regular hoover, but that clogged up within months so we went out and bought a dyson. And it works wonders! It picks up absolutely everything so I would definitely recommmend the dyson for picking up hairs!

  14. Dysons are brilliant! Although i don't own a dog, I have 2 cats and 2 children and i haven't come across anything it won't clean up! They are expensive but i got mine second hand and it still works fine, i think you get something like a 5 year guarentee but im not sure. They are well worth the money.

  15. My Daughter & Son in Law have two Golden Retrievers who constantly moult.  Their Dyson Animal is brilliant!!!!

  16. we exchange our carpets for lamaniate flooring, so much better with dogs

  17. The best vaccuum I have ever used was bought from a hardware store for about $300AUD.

It was by a company called 'Still'.

Designed by men, do you believe it?

I have started a cleaning buisness and have used many different vaccuums, some costing $1000. I have without a doubt found this to be the best.

It is easy to move around the house, lightweight, has a flat head so you can get under narrow places, it sucks everything up and feels as light as a feather. It has cut my vaccuuming time in half.

Worth a visit to a hardware store! It is designed for men on construction sites etc so it is very simple to use without any fancy stuff.

    Good Luck!

  18. I have 2 dogs both with coats that are constanly shedding and a coat who leaves white hair all over the furniture and I have a dyson. It is magic.

It gets all the hair out of the carpets and works really good on the furniture to.

  19. Well - i bought a http://www.amazon.com/Dyson-Cyclone-Anim... thinking that it would do the job and i'm sorry to say that i am more than a little disappointed with it.

It shouldn't be used on expensive carpets or really cheap carpets because it makes them bare by pulling up the threads...

    It is hard to manoeuvre.

Its pipe function is really fiddly and confusing.

Its uniquely designed stand/release foot paddle is a bit hard to use.

The roller at the front frequently become clogged.

AND! I still find hair everywhere.

I would suggest buying a vacuum more like this:

    http://www.amazon.com/Miele-S4210-Carina...

Where you always use the pipe and can easily do the sofa and get under tables etc and use the head to rub up hairs. Maybe they have a dyson version?

  20. My friend got a dog she brought a dyson and said it nearly pulled the carpet up would go for upright the new ball one.

  21. I recommend a dyson animal even better if you use a turbo brush attachment on it
