Can you recommend a restaurant in London?

I'm looking for somewhere a little different; quirky service, original venue & decor, something that sets it apart from the usual places. I've been told the Wine Library in Tower Hill is worth a visit. Can anyone back that up, or suggest alternatives? Thank you!

  1. Wine Library Twr Hill - never been there, but link below takes you to their website.

One of London's oldest established French restaurnts [1941] Covent Garden - small, intimate and very French - you'll love it and yes, they do chips.

Another fave of mine is the Oriel at Sloane Square - you cannot book in advance with then, it's first come first served.  But you'll probably get a seat.  Find out more at the link below.

. . . .think the best way to describe the Oriel is average, average and about average.

it is a new moroccon / ;ebanese restaurant and the ambience and decor is just UNBELIEVABLE..... you really have to go there to believe it !!

  5. Cafe gallipoli, gallipoli bazaar and galipolli again in upper street, islington. They are 3 restaurants metres apart which specialise in turkish and moroccan cuisine. I have been to all of them and they are fab. such a lively, friendly and warm atmosphere. It has a authentic feel to it with the decoration etc... but the food is sooooo yummy my mouth is watering thinking about it lol. They give generous portions not like some restaurants, the taste is to die for and have a excellent verity. i would definatly recommend them.

  14. Hi hon! Well for me personally, one of my favourite restaurants in London is MEM and LAZ and you will find them at 8 Theberton Street in Islington. (Off Upper Street, and the postcode is N1 OQX). Mem and Laz is a charming little restaurant, with a huge menu at exceptionally reasonable prices. The fresh sardines and tuna there are absolutely gorgeous (and I know, because Mem goes to the fish market every day to choose them himself and make sure they are fresh!). It's quite dark and cosy, with traditional Turkish lanterns, beautiful lamps, movie posters and such like. The service is wonderful, the people are friendly, and it's not a traditional Turkish restaurant - it offers a great range of food, mainly in the meditteranean style (if you go, try the seafood linguine - it's fab!!). I know all this, because I have been there many a time, and Mem (the owner) is a great pal of my big brothers, and a friend of mine too!! Give it a go hon - I guarantee you won't be disappointed, and you will be sure of a very warm welcome from all the lovely, friendly people who work there! xxxxxx
