Can you recommend me a good scanner?

i'm looking for one that can pick up shortwave, citizen band, ham radio, tv stations, NOAA, police radio and generally anything exotic. so far i've heard of getting a wideband (picks up HF? UHF AND VHF?)

Uniden, Bearcat, and even Radio Shack. There's still a lit more good scanners out there. It all boils down to what you can afford.

If you want something to pick up the police, the best thing to get is a trunk-tracker scanner.
