Places close to Nice or Milan or Genoa, for example.

And this is for a honeymoon :-)

  1. I like the trip from Milan to Zurich.

You must do something like the following

if you are going to get any memories of the Alps.

Take the train from Zurich to Lucerne.

    Then Lucerne to Interlaken.

From Interlaken you go to Grindelwald.

Take the train from Grindelwald to Jungrau (very expensive)

From there you can either go back to Mt. Schiedegg and walk down the other side of the mountain or take the train down to Lauterbrunnen.

You can actually do a hike from Grindelwald to Mt. Schiedegg

which is at the base of Junfrau and then over the mountain to the other side through Wengen and to Lauterbrunnen. I did this and it

took most of the day. Very popular route for hikers. The only ones that seemed to want to spend all the money on the train seemed to be from Japan, which I can understand considering how much they must have paid to get to that point in the first place.

This is a picture of the valley at Lauterbrunnen. Stunning!

On this map you can see Interlaken at bottom centre and

Jungfrau at top centre; on the mountain.

I have only given you one option of several in this particular region.

If you go through the comments on this page, you can get a better idea of what others recommend.

  2. Near Nice you have to different trains for that :

    * Le Train des Pignes that goes from Nice to Dignes through the Alps. I did it, it's fun and nice.

    * Le Train des Merveilles that start from Nice and goes to Tende and Turin through the Alps as well.
