i am 16 and don't read that much, so am never sure what authors to look for.

some of my favourite books are

mr vertigo - paul auster

animal farm - george orwell

pollen - jeff noon

1984 - george orwell

i'm the king of the castle - susan hill

the book thief - markus zusak

the lovely bones - alice seabold

the wasp factory - ian banks

when i look for books by the same authors i often find myself disappointed and unable to finish the book, as i get distracted easily and find it hard to get into a book. i like reading fiction but am open to anything. any recommendations

  5. All of the Harry Potter books are superb, Pillars of the earth is also brilliant (looking forward to reading a world without end), chemistry of death ( if you like murder mysteries) Tunnels a really good fictional book.  All of these books are the best books i have ever read.

  6. if you like mysteries, try Agatha Christie. She was made a Dame by the Queen for her excellent stories. I love Hercule Poirot!

Michael Crichton is mostly known for writing Jurassic Park but Next and Timeline are two others of his that I enjoyed.

I have loved biographies ever since I started reading Irving Stone's. Try The Agony and the Ecstasy, Lust for Life, Love is Eternal (Michelangelo, van gogh, mary todd lincoln).

Papillon is another biography that I enjoyed, but it's not by Irving Stone; it's by Papillon, or Henri Charriere--sp?-- and is the life story of a wrongly accused man who spends most of his life in different prisons. it was made into a movie but the book's better:)

The Odd Thomas series by Dean Koontz (Odd Thomas, Forever Odd, Brother Odd, Odd Hours) I love them!! Some parts are a little gruesome, especially in the first two books, but you will love Odd and Stormy and Ozzie by the end!

I hope some of these suggestions help! it sounds like you're a george orwell fan--i'm ashamed to admit, i've never read anything by him. i guess i should...

I couldn't put them down they were so good! :) You could also read the Harry Potter series. That's really interesting. Exspecially the 5th, 6th, and 7th one. The twlight series has 4 books, and those are amazing! Good luck!

  11. bible-best book you will ever read..

  12. Similar to Orwell's 1984 is Phillip K. d**k's Man in the High Castle, a fantastic 'what if' novel.

Vernon God Little by DBC Pierre is a great book, similar in style to Bank's Wasp Factory.

I'll also throw in Ian McEwan's novel Amsterdam. It's a darkly humoured tale and a great read. Also only short so easy to get through!

  13. The Dice Man - Luke Rhinehart

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time - Mark Haddon

    Popcorn - Ben Elton

The Green Mile - Stephen King

  14. I think you would like 'The Noughts And Crosses Trilogy', by Malorie Blackman. I read it at when I was sixteen, and still love it. =)

There's three in the whole series:

    Noughts And Crosses.

    Knife Edge.

    Checkmate.

And each is just as amazing as the last.

It's kind of a love story, but not the typical mushy stuff that you would find in any other 'teenage romance' book. It's completely different. Well I definitely suggest that you look it up online. And let me know what you think! =)
