  1. Nothing cooked In England comes close to what they produce on the continent.

The British are hardwired geneticly not to produce good food. They are as capable of cooking as Bush is of  looking intelligent. Britain is where failed French cooks are sent to die.

The British put sugar and milk in tea. Such an abomination!!

The British make fish and chips.   The British make real breakfasts. The British make Christmas pudding. The British make custard. The British make a thing called 'Sunday Roast'.

For these things, I forgive all else.

  2. The above answer is total tosh.

Britain has more Michelin rated restaurants than any other country except France, and 3 of the top 10 restuarants in the world are located in England.

Anyway - to answer your question:

    Visit this London Restaurant website:

    http://www.london-eating.co.uk/

on the home-page, you will see a drop down menu in a box called "find me a restaurant".  The drop down menu is entitled "cuisine".

Use this to select your country, ir, French, German, Italian...etc and up will come all the London restaurants of that nationality.

    My personal favourites;

    French: Petrus or La Gavroche

Italian: River Cafe (modern) or Topo Gigio (traditional)

    Hungarian: The g*y Hussar

    Spanish: Ten Tables

German: are there any German restaurants ???

Greek: As Greek as it Gets

  3. Since there are now 27 EU member states (Bulgaria and Romania just joined) you may struggle to find something for each, especially if you are restricted to North London - after all, just how many Maltese or Bulgarian restaurants are there in London?  Some thoughts:

French:  Pied a Terre in Charlotte Street (2 Michelin stars) or Gordon Ramsay (3 Michelin stars).  In North London the best is Morgan M in Islington.

Spanish: Salt Yard tapas north of Oxford Street.

Italian: Zafferano in Knightsbridge (1 Michelin star)

    German: sorry

Belgium: I suppose in Camden you can get mussels and chips at Belgo

Netherlands:  this cuisine should never be exported

Luxembourg: none that I know of

    Denmark: Lundums SW7

Ireland:  The Lindsay House in Soho.

Britain: Perhaps St John in Smithfield if you like offal

Greece:  The Real Greek in Hoxton

Portugal:  None I could recommend; there is always Nandos

Austria:  The g*y Hussar in Soho (also counts for Hungarian)

Finland: none that I know of

    Sweden: Glas SE1

Cyprus: endless "Greek" places are really Cypriot

Czech Republic: none that I know of

Estonia: none that I know of

Latvia: none that I know of

    Hungary: g*y Hussar in Soho

Lithuania: none that I know of

Malta: none that I know of

    Poland: Baltic SE1

Slovakia: none that I know of

Slovenia: none that I know of

Bulgaria: none that I know of
