  1. Depends on if your DVD-R will accept the signal from your Tivo.  My VCR is connected to my DVR and I can record on demand shows through it, but I dont have a DVD-R, so I dont know for sure.  I imagine it all depends on both the brand of the DVR and the brand of the DVD-R
