Can you record video directly to a harddrive?

Like, can i hook up my Sony Handycam directly up to a portable harddrive and record onto it? if its possible how? Thanks! : )

You might be able to transfer recorded movies from the cam's memory/stick to the computer with the cable but not directly to a external hard drive, least I haven't heard of anything like that.

yes you can, but is a little expensive.

There are high end prosumer level camcorders that can do this, but it probably can't be done with a Handycam.
