That would be awesome if it was so simple.

And can you easily make copies of it?

  1. yes I think you can.  I think that it's possible.

  2. You can hook up a VCR to a DVD recorder to copy onto DVDs, so I think a camcorder would hook up the same way. The only way your going to find out is to try it. Good luck. You should be able to make copies with a computer since it wouldn't have copyright protection technology on it. Does this make sense?

  3. Yes to both questions.  BUT, the video quality isn't great, you need to finalise the DVD in the camcorder before you can play it, which means you can't record any more on the disk, the disk only holds about 20mins at the best quality and DVD based camcorders seem to have more than their fair share of problems.  And then there's the issue of editing -  90% of the video you shoot will be c**p!  Watching raw, unedited video is less enjoyable than having root canal work - I've done both, so you can trust me on this.  To make a video that people will watch more than once you need to spend some time editing it, but the format that DVDs are recorded in is very poor for editing.  MiniDV camcorders are cheap, the video quality's good and it's easy to edit.  Once you've edited it to produce a watchable video it's easy to burn it to a DVD with something like DVD Flick.

  4. What exactly do you mean. They make camcorders that record onto miniDVDs also the panasonic SD5 has a dvd burner you can connect to it and record straight to DVD
