I have two radios (cd/tape/radio) that my puppy decided to chew the power supply cords to. I don't know how to repair them nor do I need them laying aroung my house while I try to get them repaired...so is there somewhere I could take them where they would be recycled or fixed and given to someone who needs it?

  1. hello,there!

I am an electronics hobbyist, and am currently restoring an old 1960's Japanese pachinko game, and have been using the parts from other things (old printer, out-of-date scanner, old modem, old telephone,ect.). i've been removing their nuts, bolts, screws, springs, wires, switches, motors, and have used them for diff. purposes, esp. my pachinko machine (mostly wire, switches, and tiny screws). when i strip the usable parts from something, i recycle the unusable plastic/glass/ metals.

as for "needing" this or that, i am alright, but since i am a hobby est, i do find uses for the items i come across.

i hate to see something be thrown out when i could use something off of it.

  2. ya u could recycle electronics... i live in new york if i wanted to recycle electronics i have to go to manhatten in order to go to this recycling place where u are only allowed to recycle electronics. then they use your electronics to either use some of the parts or they destroy it in the junk yard

  3. You can probably take it to a repair shop and give it away or go to good will or salvation army or a church and see if they don't mind taking it.   If all that is broken is the power cord you can sell it on ebay and make a pretty penny!!!

  4. Absolutely!  Check with your city.  They may have a recycling center that accepts electronic devices.  Look in the telephone book under recycling.  I found a place within a mile of where I live in the telephone book.  I didn't use the city facility because it is about 15 miles away.

  5. You can donate them to the Salvation Army or one of the other thrift stores located nearbye.  If that is not feasible go to freecycle or take to your local trash dump which usually has a recycle bin for used appliances such as computers etc.  I hope this answer helps.

  6. You also can recycle phones (especially Nokia or Sony Ericsson)

  7. www.recyclehawaii.com has a number you can call to find out when the next electronics recyle day is.  If one isn't scheduled soon they can give you the name of a business (in Hilo I think) that will accept electronics for recycling for a small fee.

    Good luck

  8. yes my local dump has a separate dumpster for electronics such as TVs monitors microwaves old radios because they usually contain toxic substances like lead and must remove them before they bury them in the landfill, many electronics contain small amounts of gold also which can be extracted

  9. someone can fix the cord, try a local handyman/electrician. if they need the equip then its a fair trade for time and labor

  10. Of course you can silly willy! I see it all over the news how millions of old electronics are recycled...

  11. yes, but probably not radios. if they are worth a lot of money, maybe you can sell them. i understand you can even sell used computers believe it or not, on ebay. call the city where you live and ask about electronics recycling. in california where i live, electronics recycling is mandatory because of the toxic components.

  12. Do not throw them into the garbage..

CALL THE GOOD WILL AND THEY WILL COME AND PICK THEM UP

This way, you will be helping some other person to have something that they might need.

  13. you can send it to me!

  14. yes, i know a few that offer money for computer recycling

  15. I volunteer at TeamChildren a 501 3 (c) which accepts computers and accessories regardless of age for refurbishing for the economically challenged.
