We do not have mandatory recycling in our town -- we have to bring them to igloos througout the center, and on the plastic container bill -- they tell you ony small neck bottles.

  1. Why not take them to the health food shop and re-fill them with fresh ground peanut butter or any other nut that they crush.

  2. I have found that the ones with red lids make great hummingbird feeders.  I wash the jar and lid thoroughly and drill holes in the lid (approx. 1/4 inch diameter).  In a separate container, mix a solution of one part granular sugar and three to four parts very hot water, then let it cool.  There is no need to add food coloring, but it's pretty.  Then I set it out on the deck railing for birdwatching all summer long!  It's important to keep the jar filled so that the birds can reach the liquid  with their beeks.
