  1. Would she consider an online public school? Try k12.com

I'm applying for their California Virtual Academy. I just gave them a call and ask how to enroll and was guided  step by step. Now all I have to do is mail in my forms and choose my classes.

But before she does anything, tell her to research thoroughly and look around. Good luck! =)

I have a question, though, why are you looking up the information, and not her or her parents?

  4. Options really depend on what state you live in. There are free ones and private ones. Some are more affordable than others.

Many online charter schools are popping up all over. Many of them are now using k12 products. k12 schoolsare good for many reasons. Each student is given a placement test and then given individualized curriculum based on his or her individual needs. With the help of online charter schools today, homeschooling can be much easier than it used to be. They provide you with everything you need, a computer, a printer, books, supplies, and teachers that you can both email and call for help and assistance. This is free and there are no charges. Online schools are definitely becoming a way of the future for the children in generations to come.

Going to an online school is no different than going to a traditional public school or a private school. They graduate with a real diploma the same as any school. My son graduated from an online charter school and now attends a private university (University Of Dayton) with scholarships. They will also help you with making sure that all state required tests are done yearly and proficiencies are completed for graduation.

  5. There are so many programs out there!  I would check first with the state homeschool organization that she resides in and then HSLDA.org's site for suggested sources.  For the state link, just yahoo or google the state and homeschooling in your search engine.

One program is online....you can do this for free on up to hundreds of dollars.  The draw back is the human interaction outside the computer.

Another program is a co-op where parents work together to teach the various subjects...heavy parent involvement but usually low cost.

Enrichment programs usually have high quality classes and can be pricey unless you find a co-op hybrid.

Some public school districts also offer various levels of involvment for the homeschool family.
