Can you repair a cd player?

I bought a cheap cd boom box and it lasted 2 weeks. I bought another cheap one and it lasted a day (couldn't take it back). Is there a way to fix it? Or did I do something wrong?

As iPods/mp3s take over, less time and attention is payed to boom boxes. Sorry, but you'll just have to take your chances with what you get. I highly doubt it's anything you've done. :)
