Can you replace the original iPhone with the same phone?

Last night, I knocked my iPhone off a table and now the bottom portion of the screen where the tray icons are isn't working. I can still unlock it but as I can't use any of these icons I can't place a call, I can't text, I can't use the internet and I can't listen to my iPod unless I double click the home button. I am going to call the apple store in my town tomorrow morning to see if I could get it repaired but if they can't repair it and have to replace it, I was wondering if I could replace it with another 1st generation iPhone if necessary. Any help at all would be appreciated.

  1. At first I thought you said it was unlocked. If your phone is unlocked then it voids the apple care warranty. If not, then yes, you can take it in, they won't repair it, they will just give you a refurbished one, which is practically a new one.
