Can you request a refund from your CALPERS retirement account after quitting a school job?

I can't seem to find the answer on their website. I've left the school I was working at, and would like this money refunded. Is it possible, or do you have to wait until you retire? Thanks so much for any information!

I worked for the school system for about 15 years.  I am a homemaker now and wanted to do the same thing.  I was told that you could get the monies now but they would only give you 1/3 of what you've accrued.  I preferred to wait until I retire.  Your previous human resource person should be able to guide you.  Good luck!
