Question:

Can you request your money back on ebay if someone gives you vulgar feedback for giving your opinion?

I purchased a product on ebay. I disagreed with the seller in a polite manner. But they gave me horrible feedback called me nasty, a thief, and a scammer. I think I should be able to get my money back for having to put up with this vulgar language. What do you think? Paypal and ebay should not tolerate this.

  1. I feel you should be able to get your money back, but websites like eBay are full of nasty scamming people. I dont think you'll get results. This is why I have never shopped online.

  2. Unfortunately this is one of the "side effects" of the "feedback" system.  You cannot request you money back from either Pay Pal or Ebay.  People who use the system understand that there are miserable people out there who misuse the "feedback" system and leave nasty messages for no apparent reason.  Most people can see through miserable people and understand that the seller was uspset because they were confronted for selling a product that was substandard or not what it was supposed to be to start with.

    Peace & Love  :)

  3. I don't know anything about internet buying as I don't buy things on the internet.

I would advice you to report them to the website admin, and with luck their account might be get disconnected.

  4. These are 2 totally different issues:

    - If you are unhappy with the product and the seller does not agree to a refund, you can file a Significantly Not As Described (SNAD) dispute with Paypal. Go to the transaction page on your paypal account and click the "file a dispute" link. Paypal will make you send the item back to the seller at your expense though. You cannot keep the item and get your money back.

    - Sellers are not longer allowed to leave negative feedback. If they left negative comments under a positive feedback, you can report it. Ebay will remove the feedback and slap the seller with a violation, which could lead to selling restrictions and in severe cases getting him booted from the site.

By the way, the only reason ebay and paypal put up with this is because you haven't reported it yet.

  5. You can go to a company called Square Trade and they can sort this out for you but I believe it costs $20 US. I did that once to sort out a problem that couldnt be resolved. But I thought that sellers cant give negative feedback any more?

  6. There are new rules on Ebay which were designed to stop sellers from retaliating with that sort of feedback. I don't think they would tolerate it if they knew about it.  Contact them and see what they say.

    good luck:)

  7. If you got the product you purchased than you are not entitled to your money back.

Most ebay sellers value their feedback and rating and want their customers to address them with any concerns to work out their difference before resulting to posting negative feedback without giving them a chance to rectify the problem.  If someone gave you the same feedback you gave the seller would you have been offended by not given the chance to address your concerns?  What you felt was polite feedback the seller thought was nasty.  Your recourse is to never do business with this seller again.
