  1. You can only return a car under a lemon law claim if there is a material defect in the car that the dealer cannot repair within three separate attempts or within the first 10,000 miles.  Otherwise no you cannot return just because you no longer like it or cannot afford it.

Obviously the other people rating or answering this question are clueless because I have been a dealer in PA, NY, and MD for the past 10 yrs and am very knowledgeable on the law.  I think I would know over some kid with a no industry knowledge and a laptop.

  2. The people you are asking are misinformed. You do not have 2 days, three days or a week. It is now your car. No cooling off period applies to purchases made outside the home.

  3. Urban legend says you have 3 days to return a car for any reason.  Urban legend is, as usual, wrong.  There is no cooling off period on a car.

Q: Is there a "cooling off period" where I can return a car I purchased?

    --------------------------------------...

A: Dealers aren't required by law to give used car buyers a three-day right to cancel. The right to return the car in a few days for a refund exists only if the dealer grants this privilege to buyers. Dealers may describe the right to cancel as a "cooling-off" period, a money-back guarantee or a "no questions asked" return policy. Before you purchase from a dealer, ask about the dealer's return policy, get it in writing and read it carefully.
