Can you reuse stamps...if the Postmaster didn't stamp stamps that you receive from mail?

ie can you cut them off the letter and use them?

  1. You could, I'm not sure there's any law against that.


  2. If there isn't any sign of a cancellation mark, then go for it. The worst that will happen is it gets returned.

    I'm curious- how do you intend to better your life or other's lives with the saved 42 cents?

  3. You just can't "see" the cancellation stamp. They use an ink that is not visible to the human eye but is checked by a machine.

  4.   Sorry there is a law about re-using stamps even if they are not canceled or at least visually canceled some are covered using IR or UV ink. and show only in the machine. You can find yourself in jail if too many are found being re-used they actually conciter this under counterfeiting as the government wants that 42 cents.  

  5. You cannot cut them off the letter and tape them down, you would have to reuse the envelope.  No law against that, but a stamp that is taped on they will not accept
