English is not my home language and I would appreciate if you guys helped me! Thank you!

How should I revise and make this letter sound a little nicer?

"I would like to know if you could allow me to retake the final. I have checked the schools policy, which allows students to retake exams under the instructors permission. This will allow me to at least earn a grade of C. Which I thought I had enough points to get, considering you would put less weight on the first exam, and having the rest of my marks above a 70 which you said will get me a decent mark if though you fail the final."

I guess the challenge with your question is not the phrasing you used as it depends on your age/ level of education you are talking about. It also depends on the system of education you are dealing with and the regulations of the institution as they differ from place to place and from country to another , they even differ from one institution/ school to another even f they were next doors.

Concerning the language you used I guess it is OK if you are looking for a C degree.
