Can you ride a 50cc scooter with just a driving provisonal?

I want to buy a scooter to take me to and from work, im taking my driving lessons but haven't passed my test yet. Can i still ride the scooter only having my provisonal or will i have to take a test.

  3. Assuming this is a UK question...

    You will definitely need to pass a CBT test before you can take a moped (scooter) on the road unaccompanied. Your provisional licence will also need to cover this class of vehicle. Don't forget tax, insurance and MOT.

    There are some exceptions to this. For example, car drivers who acquired their full licence prior to 1st February 2001. But this will not apply to you.

    Fivelighter either has a licence which covers mopeds or is driving illegally.

  4. You need to do a CBT test which is for 1 day, you get tested on the scooters in a carpark at first, go back and answer questions then go out onto the road. It costs about £95.
