Can you ride a motorcycle without a permit or endorsement as long as you are with a rider who has one?

I'm not sure if this is true or not. I just heard it from my brother-in-law.

You should check the laws of your state, as I believe it varies from one to another.  In the State of Illinois, you cannot legally operate a motorcycle without a license, and you must take an approved motorcycle course in order to get a license.  If you do not have a motorcycle of your own, they provide a loaner, and most colleges offer these courses, which have waiting lists.
