It is possible to short your car by jumping someone else's , but I think being a good Samaritan will save your car. Good luck.

No, as long as you do it right, + to +  and  - to -  or red cable to +  Black cable to –

If you went positive to negative you could cause the battery to explode, burn up fuses, wires and kill your e prom (computer). It’s safe as long as you hoop the cables up correct. And don’t smoke around your battery.
