  1. My husband fixed the ice maker on our side by side by himself with the kit from Home Depot. It is a plastic tube run from the water pipe to the fridge.Don't know the size but it is as big as a pencil.Home Depot can help you get the right kit you need.Hope this helped.

  2. Old Lady is right...that is how my brother and husband did the work...sounds like it is a standard size and kit and HD will know how to get the right stuff

  3. yes it call quarter inch plastic tube, you can ask for ice maker kit depend on how far your fridge is

  4. Go to any Lowe's ,  Home Depot,  Menards, Ace hardware and ask for a Ice Maker kit.  It comes with 1/4" plastic tubing and a saddle valve.  The instructions are right on the package.  If after the installation your ice maker makes what looks like 1/2 cubes then the valve did not pierce the opening big enough..  either tighten the "T" handle deeper into the pipe ...... or.......Shut off the water,  remove the saddle valve,   and use a very small drill bit to enlarge the hole just a little bit,,  and  I mean just a little .  Replace the saddle valve and check for leaks...

  5. we used a clear gas line and it worked fine for many years,
