Can you run low/little bass with a high RMS?

say you have a sub at 250-400 RMS would it be bad for your bass if sometimes you don't want that much bass an you turn down the bass?

  1. Uh, that other answer I saw makes no sense. Many people don't know that you can damage a sub by underpowering it just as easily as overpowering it.

    But no, turning down your bass is fine so long as you are sending the recommended wattage range to your sub(s). Turning down the bass setting, gain or volume will have no adverse effects on your sub(s).


  2. not at all! picture your sub as a cup, and your watts (rms) as water. you can put as little as you want in the cup, but when you put too much, the cup cant handle it. only when you put too many watts into a sub will it damage it. ohms can also affect this, but if your talking about turning your amp down, there is no problem what so ever.
