  1. ..Just came back from a two-week drive about in NM, CO, WY, & MT.

I noticed road-side warnings in WY & MT about "farm-use" diesel fuel

use in vehicular traffic, ...and fianlly (FOR REAL!) witnessed a road-

side "suprise" check by State Troopers, ...siphoning and viewing for

that telltale die ...Uh! Oh!  .........I heard the fines are SUBSTANTIAL!

The fuel die doesn't mix well with alcohol, either...good way to have

'em whip out both test kits!......TX

  2. Not legally, onroad that is; but it won't physically harm the engine.

Generally, offroad diesel is the same as 500 ppm sulphur content road diesel, which is fine for all diesel engines physically, but not legally approved for 2007 and later vehicles used on highways. The 50 ppm diesel which is approved for 2007 and later vehicles is actually damaging to earlier diesel engines because it shrinks seals.

  3. Off road diesel and number2 fuel oil are exactly the same thing as low sulfur diesel fuel. The only difference is they add red dye to it, so that the government boys can know it's not road fuel and road taxes haven't been paid on it.

Not only is it illegal to run diesel fuel without paying road tax, on the road, but it is also illegal to run low sulfur diesel in a 2008 truck. It must be ultra low sulfur or it's illegal and can void your warranty.
