And can you sue them for running your credit without permission? I live in Florida. Would it be worth my time (money wise)?

  1. probably not as you probably gave them your ss# then no--- and also credit card companies do it all the time just to send you offers

  2. If it's an existing creditor, you gave your consent when you initially applied.

Even if someone did run your credit without your consent, you would have to prove monitary damages which would be difficult and definitely not worth your time.

You should also be aware that the credit bureaus allow screening for credit cards offers.  These are soft inquiries and have no affect on your score.  You can opt out to stop those and stop a lot of junk mail.  https://www.optoutprescreen.com/?rf=t

  3. It's not worth your time and money.  Banks, mortgage companies will run your credit at times to see how you're doing and see if they can better help you.
