The WTO is among one of the international organizations that has the ability to solve disputes. Nato brings together Europe, African League of Nations brings together and unites Africa. The WHO organization gives aid to countries in need. Can you see an international organization that comes to enough power to be able to almost govern the states that are its members on a world basis as well as other international organizations?

  1. Something like an United Nations with teeth? I hope not. That would mean the loss of our sovereignty. It's bad enough the individual states lost a lot of their rights to the federal government. Let's not make it worse by losing our federal government to the world.

  2. I'd like to think not.  I would like to think that people want to keep their soverignty and rights and individuality that people lost their lives many years ago defending.

However, it shakens me that here in the UK, Ireland, and other places that people have allowed something like the EU take away autonomy  like they have over the years.  If they are willing to do that, then something is not right and I think it is high time we started looking at the situation before it is too late.

  3. George Bush Sr. was talking about One World Government long ago. Who knows what is on the agenda...

  4. Impossible. That's just a fantasy.

There is no single organization that was ever able to do that. You can look at history.

Especially us in the west. We love our freedoms. We can't give anything up.

  5. Very well, the idea has been promulgated by the Neocons Movement directly and indirectly.

Norman Podhoretz, Thomas P.M. Barnett, Colin Powell, Condoleezza, Cheney, Rumsfeld and others sharing the Neocons line of thinking have been trying very hard to make America the 'Global Power' through the display of military might and winning illegal wars.  Subsequently every country in this world will be the subject of America.

The Neocons are not happy with the UN.  But they have been using the UN to justify whatever unjust actions they have done to the world.  The American people are guided and suppressed to accept their actions as 'to protect the USA'.

The Newcons want to replace the UN with something called as an 'International Organization' that they can control.  If we look closely, it seems that the Newcons are organized and working towards making the world under the Zionist control -- not by the American.  This is a dangerous move and must be stopped.

At this moment the option is very clear.  Reform the UN to give better instruments and fairness in discharging its duties to make the world a better place.

Powers must be exercised with care.  The world can't be controlled through arms and wars.

Developing and maintaining peace and prosperity of all countries should be the prime objective of the UN.

America as a great nation should lead the peace movement instead of making illegal wars.

  6. Can you see an International Organization governing the world in the near future?

No, not in the near future! Perhaps in a 100 years or more. The alternative would be fiasco - we'd probably all blow ourselves up by then.

And it depends what you mean by "governing". The WG would take on funtions, presumavly as agreed by the nation states or other entities. These would keep other funtions, especially as relating to their cultures and their norms. It could work, but it would take many years to iron out a constitution acceptable to all.

I Iliked Jayne's answer, but I would disagree with her about the UN not being the vehicle to do it. I agree with her that there's no way the UN could do it in the near term. It's too fragmented, and it does not get universal support.

But the UN is all we have, and if we nurture it, and insist on fundamental reforms, eventually it might fill the bill.

Or would she prefer Messiahmonkey's ground-roots WG?

To have pease and relative prosperity in the world there's got to be some system to ensure world cooperation. Or can she suggest another alttenative?

I admire Jayne's knowledge of the UN, and anyone who wants to pontificate about this issue should become equally enlightened. Studying the 8 UN Millennium Development Goals and the UN annual Human Development Reports would go some way to getting them up to speed.

And they might consider checking out Oxford World Link which is devoted to these studies.

  7. Name ONE dispute that WTO has solved! None! The WTO is concerned with opening markets and making everything market-driven. It's caused as many problems as it's helped.

The African League of Nations should be ashamed of itself over it's inaction and silent approval of Zimbabwae.

WHO is a band-aid -- it doesn't solve problems, it keeps desperate people barely afloat in the middle of huge crisis situations.

I am a supporter of the UN system, but I do NOT see, nor want, and international organization governing the world.
