  1. mostly when i know someone is bluffing it's the way they played the hand and how they played hands before that.

not something i see them doing.

but sometimes you can see the way they look at certain cards or check back at the cards ect....

    Hopes this helps!

  2. Usually you have to know them, have experience playing with them, or be so good that you can spot the "tells" in opponents. Otherwise, it's pretty tough.

  3. Yes

The best way to figure out how is to read, read, read, and play, play, play.  And when you play, pay very close attention to everything.

Of course if you ever get good enough to play with an above average group of players, there will be people who will show you what you want to see.  That is when it gets tricky :)

  4. Sometimes. Some people hide it better than others. People get a lot more nervous when bluffing so look out for fidgeting, sweating, faces going red etc. General nervousness really.

This is also straight out of Doyle Brunsons book (2times WSOP champion). He says sometimes you can visbaly notice a pulse in a mans neck. If it's elevated then there's a good chance he will be bluffing.

Most importantly, go with your instinct. And don't forget, some people could try the double bluff on you. They could be sitting there with 'the nuts' (The best hand possible given the cards dealt) and TRYING to look nervous to throw you off.

Practice, practice, practice. It's the only way you will ever get better at reading 'tells'.

    Good luck

  5. Don't know

  6. Almost everyone has what are called "Tells". These are physical actions that people perform during times of stress. You have to observe someone for a period of time to catch tells. Some people, for instance will lay their cards down every time they have a good hand. If you have observed an individual and know that he lays his cards down on the table when he has a good hand and now he's making a huge bet and holding on to his cards, he's probably bluffing. You have to watch people carefully and note what kind of cards they have whenever they do a certain thing to catch tells, but once you know a persons' tell you can beat him every time.

  7. The are two ways to see if someone's bluffing in a poker game.  The first is what most think of, physical tells.  Others have discussed this, and the main thing to keep in mind is that strong means weak, and weak means strong.  Human beings, when we wish to deceive we do the exact opposite of what we mean.  So a player with a very strong hand may pretend to be uninterested in the hand, wheras a player bluffing may literally stare you down or lean towards you.

There are many of these, and almost all of them operate on the acting strong means weak, acting weak means strong principle.

The other way to "see" someone bluffing is to think logically about their betting patterns.  The bets should tell a story that makes sense with plausible holdings.  When the bets made don't add up, then often the player is bluffing.

  8. If I understand your question, it is not how to tell if someone is bluffing, but; can you see if they are bluffing during a poker game?  The only way to see if they were bluffing is to call the bet, and  in a card room, if you call the bet and they go to muck the cards after you show the winning cards, tell the dealer that you called and you want to see what they have, that is the only way you can see cards is by calling (techniquely, the bettor is the one who is supposed to show his cards first after all action).  Most all card rooms have the rule, and so do tournaments...last monday night it was done on the wpt...  a player who calls the last bet allowed can ask to see the cards of the bettor, I will do it at times if I really think the opponent is playing way to loose or I have been smelling a rat.  It isn't done often but it is perfectly acceptable. There is an old saying derived from this..."If you wanna see what I am holdin' you gotta pay." In essence, a called hand must show.

  9. At a bricks & mortor game you can spot the "tells" a lot easier. When playing on the internet just watch their game play someone will call that raise and you'll see two cards that should have been mucked at the start.
