  1. No, it will occur while San Jose is in darkness.

    No part of California can see any of the August 1 eclipse.  It happens around 3 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time, when, of course, it is night.

    The next total solar eclipse you could hope to see will be August 21, 2017, which you could view if you drove to Oregon.
