Question:

Can you send pictures in to colleges to use on their magazines and such?

because i have this really well done picture (im a photographer) and the man is wearing a boston shirt, do you think that i could contact BC and they might buy it from me or something?

  1. To be honest, probably not.  Most schools either have their own staff phototgraphers or photography majors who are more than happy to have their work showcased in catalogs and on the website for free or for a nominal fee so that they can add on their CV that they had their work professionally published.  That being said, if this is a picture of a star athlete or a student who has just won an award or a grant and it makes them look particularly good, you might have a chance at having your photograph published.  Good luck!


  2. Colleges and universities have their own staff photographers who capture those sorts of images, so it is not likely they would have any need. Of course you can still contact their public relations department and offer the image. In the meantime, check out the Photographer's Market 2008 for more ideas on where to sell your images.

  3. I doubt that anyone would pay you, but it is definitely worth talking to the school about to see if they are in need of something.
