  1. Yes unless you have been convicted of a felony.


  2. Here is the answer to your question from the Mass. Court System website:

    A person is ineligible to serve on a jury in Massachusetts if s/he has been or is:

    "(1) Convicted of a felony within the past 7 years, or (2) currently charged with a felony, or (3) currently in custody.

    (If you are unsure if the crime involved is a felony, check with the court where the charges were filed.)"

    A link to the website where this information may be found is provided below.  It also states: "If you do not fall within any of the disqualification descriptions, then you are qualified.   If you have a hardship that you believe would prevent you from serving, you must appear and request to speak with a judge."

    According to the instructions, you must respond to the jury summons, even if you believe you are disqualified or are unable to because of another specified hardship.  You complete a form required by the court, and a judge determines whether you are disqualified or exempt.
