I've heard you can'tt ?

But then I heard when you do, it has to be a special kind of set...

Not the set that you use your fingertips with.

  1. YES YOU CAN, BUT IF YOUR DEEP ON BACK ROW ITS PROBABLY BE OUT AND YOU MIGHT GET CALLED FOR A LIFT... IF YOU ON THE FRONT ROW JUST LET IT GO TO THE BACK ROW AND MAKE SURE YOU LET THEM KNOW YOUR LETTING THEM HAVE IT BY YELLING REALLY LOUD BACK...

  2. yes but it is REALLY hard~~~~~~

  3. you used to be able to only dig with something called only "an overhand pass" but it wasnt a set.

    now the rules have changed.

on any first ball, whether it be a serve, free ball, or spike.. you may set.

This is when you are allowed to double contact or lift(oops srry, our refs don't usually call it, but i guess its not legal) the ball and it doesn't count.

BUT it is always better to read the serve early and back up to play the ball with an underhand pass if you can, especially on a harder serve.

I have seen many a player try to set it off a serve and it goes off way behind them because of the spin on the ball.

  4. yes but its not easy... especially with a powerfull serve. You'll just end up with the nasty injury on your thumb. Believe me.. its happened to me so many times. Just move your feet to the ball... if youre a back row player move your feet 2 big steps back and if the ball is over your head or above your waist it's usually out. save ur hands!

  5. you can, but be careful. it is easy to mess up.

  6. Yes, you can, but be careful when you do because it is easy to make a lift or mess up. It might go backwards instead. Good Luck, and hope i helped!

  7. yes you can set on a serve but as others say be careful, u can also hurt yourself, maybe the special kind of set could be just a bump set. some people have a different techniques  for it but just set it and high too. good luck

  8. You can do it, I have several times during games. I wouldn't recommend it though, especially when it's a hard server. If you don't have your hands in the correct position, the ball can slide through them.  You can also damage your fingers setting a serve.

  9. yes you can set on a serve.. but ppl advise u not to..

best of luck.my wishes to ya!

  10. It is legal to set the serve.  Unless it is a soft floater, it is not recommended.  As mentioned above, it is legal to double (or multiple) hit the first ball even if you set it.  However, unlike what was mentioned above, you may not lift the ball.  A lift is a lift on the first contact, the second contact or the third contact.  It is only a double hit on the second or third hit.

If your hitter is on the same page, it is a great way to take a soft serve and set the outside hitter for a quick hit before the defense is really ready.

  11. yes you can, but be carefull when you do cause sometimes you can easily mess up!!

  12. Yeah you can set a serve with the fingertips, where did you hear that you can't?

You can set with your palm, but not touching the fingers at the same time or that will be called a LIFT.

  13. Yes, you can set a serve, but you had better have strong fingers. It'll hurt otherwise.

  14. u can but u shouldn't cuz you could smack it with ur palm and get called or you could brake your fingers! :[

  15. u can set the ball anyway uwant pretty much as long as u dont lift it or throw it on the first pass. if u set on the first pass then u wont get called on it usually if u double or something like that. u can either do a normal set which is what i do or u make ur hands really firm and flat and u cross them so that one is behind the other which is harder to control but easier if ur weaker or cant really set

  16. ahhh rissky!!!! good luck
