Question:

Can you set up a paypal account with just an ATM card, or do you need a check?

I tried setting up an account, but it showed that all the info was on the check, and I only have a savings account, and no checking account. My ATM card only has an account number, no routing number, which seems to only be on checks. Does that mean that I'm screwed?

  1. Neither. You have to give PayPal a valid credit card to set it up. That way if you sell things on Ebay, it can come out of your account whether you have a credit balance or not. If not, it will be a charge against your credit card. Same for buying using Paypal.

  2. Paypal needs a checking account. When you first sign up, they deposit two amounts less than a dollar and you report back how much those were to verify that you're the owner of the account. Then when you use paypal they take money from that checking account if you buy something or deposit if you sell something.

  3. I believe it takes a checking account number. Open a checking account. If you are under 18 mom or dad will have to sign. Best of luck.

  4. no, they need the banking routing number, or you can used your credit or debit card.
