  1. .32 NO! NO! NO!

Don't ever mess around with trying different cartridges in firearms. (besides the .32's won't fit.) It's dangerous.

Your revolver should be marked with it's caliber.

    .22 short

    .22 long rifle

    .22 magnum.

98% of all 22 revolvers made in the last 50 years use .22 long rifle (.22lr) cartridges.

  2. No .32 bullets in a .22 chamber

  3. more than likely it is chambered for .22short/long/long rifle. read the side of the firearm, and only use what it says in the firearm.

  4. NO, No, no...*

  5. I wasn't aware there were specific .22 bullets for .22 pistols and rifles.

Edit: Doc, thank you for clarifying that for me.  We used to shoot when I was younger and I was aware that certain calibre of bullets are meant for certain guns IE. a .32 is not meant to be fired with a .22 rifle or hand gun.  I didn't know that there were specific .22 bullets for .22 hand guns and rifles.  Thanks again.

  6. Your 22 revolver may be marked in one of the following fashions;

    .22 short = 22 short only

    .22 LR = 22 Long Rifle

    .22 long = 22 Long

    .22 S/LR = Short or Long Rifle

    .22 Mag = 22 Magnum

    .22 S/LR/M = 22 Short and Long and Magnum

    .22 S/LR/Mag  = 22 Short and Long and Magnum

    Go with what is says

.22 is 0.22 of an inch in diameter

.32 is 0.32 of an inch in diameter

.32 will never chamber or load into a 22 and if they do you have a problem

  7. The .22 cal rifle and revolver take the same rounds so they are compatible.

The .32 cal is a LARGER round and will not fit into a .22 revolver or any other firearm chambered for the .22 cal round.

Just for reference, the caliber of a firearm such as .22 or .45 refers to the diameter of the bullet. A .22 cal bullet is 22/100 of an inch in diameter. A .45 cal round is 45/100 of an inch.

  8. There are some 22's that interchange, thereby letting you fire any 22 sized cartridge.   You can NOT fit a 32 into a 22 size hole - OK?

However, there are semi-auto's and revolvers which have interchangeable barrels, chambers and revolver cylinders, but IF you have one of those, you'd know it.

My advice is to PUT THE GUNS AWAY!  I personally have been SHOT, and it is not a game - it's DEADLY!

  9. No  32s are bigger than .22s and will not even load in the gun

22 lr is the same round whether it is shot from a handgun or rifle

There are 22short, 22 long and 22 long rifle rounds but most 22 caliber guns will handle all three

Semi autos pretty much can only shoot LR and function properly, whether it be a semi auto handgun or rifle

  10. Q:  Can you shoot a .22 revolver with .32 bullets or .22 rifle bullets?

A:  Use only the ammo your revolver is chambered for.  If your revolver is a .22 caliber then use .22 caliber ammo.  .22 rifle ammo and revolver ammo is the same.  It is called '.22 Long Rifle' ammo.  A revolver chamber for .22 Long Rifle will also shoot .22 Long and .22 Short ammo.  Unless it comes with an extra cylinder for .22 Magnum it will NOT shoot .22 Magnum ammo. It most certainly NOT shoot .32 ammo

  11. Rag Doll,

.22 Long Rifle is the name of the cartridges, it does not mean that you can not fire .22 Long Rifle cartridges in a handgun of that caliber.

.22's started with .22 Shorts back in the 1850's, and sometimes in the 1870's the .22 Long was developed to give a bit more power.  You could not use .22 Longs in a handgun, or rifle chambered for .22 Short.   Then in the 1890's the .22 Long Rifle was developed to give greater power again.  The .22 LR would not fit into .22 Short or Long chambers, but the Shorts and Longs can be fired in .22 LR chamber.

Other than the Beretta Minx, and a few imported derringers, I don't think any repeating handguns have been made in the USA chambered for strictly for .22 Shorts, or .22 Longs since the end of WWII.

As others have said, you can't squeeze a .32 caliber cartridge into the chambers of a .22 caliber handgun, and if you manage to do so, firing the cartridge WILL result in damage to the gun and shooter.  You can't safely shoot a .32 caliber bullet down a .224" diameter barrel.

  12. The most common .22 load for both rifles and handguns is the .22 Long Rifle rimfire. Some revolvers have a .22 Magnum cylinder that can be substituted for the .22 Long Rifle one. A .32 bullet is too big to fit any .22 gun, rifle or handgun.
