  1. Digital slr's are designed for a single purpose - to take the best possible still photos with the most flexibility.

Taking videos, making phone calls, or browsing the internet are the realm of consumer level electronics, and not the more "professional" grade.

The closest you can come, currently is on the new Nikon D60.  The D60 has a "movie mode" where you can put together short video-like segments.

To quote Nikon. "Stop motion video: Creates a stop-motion animation from a sequence of images for added creative fun to your pictures."

  2. The little low resolution video mode on Point and Shoot cameras are really just a novelty and can make good You Tube videos.

DSLR's have sensors that are over 15 times larger than most point and shoot cameras, so the quality is reflected in the images it produces.

To get the same kind of increase in quality for video, you will have to find a 3-CCD mini-DV camera to produce broadcast quality video (around $5,500).

Of course the cost of good quality cameras are just part of the reality of producing excellent images/videos

These are great cameras that make great quality pictures and take video as well.

  4. That's funny i was just wondering the same thing,

    but no, they dont. =[

  5. It looks like Digital SLRs don't have a video option:
